Dublin Fire Brigade protects the communities, businesses, infrastructure and industry of the four local authority areas covering an area of 356 square miles with a population of 1.3 million. It provides the fully integrated Fire and Emergency Rescue Service for the four Dublin Local Authorities: Dublin City, Fingal, South Dublin and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Councils.

The Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) will have responsibility for managing the service delivery and development of Dublin Fire Brigade functions in the areas as delegated by the Chief Fire Officer. The areas include Operations (fire and ambulance), fire safety, major emergency management, training, change management, quality assurance and logistics. The ACFO is a member of the Management Team of the Brigade and will be required to contribute to all areas of Brigade development.
